DSS Team

I have worked in the community industry for 14 years, gaining extensive experience, knowledge, and skills in various areas. My commitment to supporting people with disabilities and providing exceptional service has made a significant difference in many lives.

What part of my role at DSS do I love the most?

When I started with DSS as the Client Services Department Manager, I earned the trust of individual clients and have been able to provide meaningful support. I aim to develop and build stronger relationships within the community and people with disabilities. Ultimately, my goal is to create a lasting, positive impact on the lives of those I serve and to contribute to the continued growth and success of DSS.

What is my least favourite part of my role?

My least favorite part of my role is actually nothing, as I truly enjoy interacting with people and knowing that I can provide the support they need. Understanding the needs and quality of life improvements for our clients gives me immense satisfaction and motivates me to go above and beyond.

Growing up with family members who have disabilities and working as a support worker has given me a unique perspective on the challenges faced by individuals in need. This background has shaped my understanding and empathy, allowing me to connect with people on multiple levels.

What part of my role as a Support Coordinator do I love the most?

As a Client Relationship Officer, I find immense fulfillment in engaging with both clients and support workers. It’s a dynamic role that allows me to make a positive impact. When I assist clients, my goal is to help them feel supported, safe, and heard. Whether it’s addressing their concerns, coordinating services, or advocating for their rights, I’m committed to ensuring their well-being.

What is my least favourite part of my role?

However, there’s a flip side to this rewarding work. Tough conversations are an inevitable part of the job. Despite my best efforts, there are moments when I can’t meet everyone’s needs. It’s emotionally challenging to navigate those situations, but I remain dedicated to finding solutions and providing compassionate support.

With over two decades of dedicated experience in the disability services sector, I have developed a deep understanding of the unique challenges and needs faced by individuals with disabilities. For the past two years, I have specifically honed my expertise as a Support Coordinator, where I have successfully facilitated access to essential services and resources, developed individualized support plans, and worked collaboratively with clients, their families, and service providers. This role has enabled me to leverage my experience to make a meaningful impact, ensuring that each individual receives the personalised care and support they deserve.

What part of my role as a Support Coordinator do I love the most?

My favourite part of being a Support Coordinator is witnessing the transformative journey of NDIS participants when they receive well-funded plans. It is incredibly rewarding to see these individuals utilize their funding to pursue their personal goals and dreams. Being a part of this process, from helping to develop and implement their plans to celebrating their successes, is truly the most fulfilling aspect of my role.

What is my least favourite part of my role?

It is disheartening to witness individuals struggling to navigate the complexities of the system without adequate support, missing out on opportunities that could significantly enhance their quality of life. This often occurs when they lack proper guidance and assistance, underscoring the critical importance of having a dedicated and knowledgeable Support Coordinator who ensures they can live each day to its fullest potential.

Hello, I’m Jenae! It’s wonderful to meet you. When I’m not assisting clients, I find solace in music, immerse myself in movies, and explore new destinations with my son —I’m a passionate traveller! My two Dachshunds, loyal companions, keep my days lively.

What part of my role as a Support Coordinator do I love the most?

As a Support Coordinator, my role revolves around ensuring NDIS participants can access the support they’re entitled to. Witnessing NDIS participants transform their lives through well-funded plans brings me immense joy. Whether it’s gaining independence, pursuing educational or employment opportunities, or actively engaging in community activities, each step they take is a celebration. Their resilience and growth inspire me daily.

What is my least favourite part of my role?

It’s disheartening when participants miss out due to lack of guidance. Navigating the complexities of the system can be daunting, and my commitment lies in bridging that gap. Every individual deserves personalised support, and I strive to ensure they receive it.

As someone who is passionate about supporting others, I firmly believe that no matter where you come from, you can always move forward. Dreams are worth pursuing, and self-belief is the key to unlocking your potential.

In my life, I’ve been blessed with two wonderful adult children and a loyal dog named Sookie. Our home is filled with music—I play the piano accordion, and the melodies resonate through our space, creating a warm and harmonious atmosphere.

When I’m not immersed in music, you’ll find me tending to my garden. There’s something magical about nurturing plants, watching them grow, and witnessing the beauty they bring to the world.

What part of my role at DSS do I love the most?

What I love about my role is watching people connect with good services and witnessing them thrive. It is incredibly rewarding to see individuals flourish when they receive the support and resources they need. This positive transformation reaffirms the importance of our work and motivates me to continue advocating for and assisting those in our care.

What is my least favourite part of my role?
One of the most challenging and disheartening aspects of my role is witnessing individuals with disabilities having to plead for resources and support that they inherently deserve. It is profoundly troubling to see people in need struggle to obtain the basic necessities and services required to live with dignity and independence.

As the Receptionist / Office Administrator I get to be a Jill of many trades. I am the first point of contact for both internal and external customers. I aim to be professional, efficient and friendly – no grumpiness here. Give some people a pile of paperwork to file, or data to enter and they will groan, complain and channel their inner toddler. Give me a pile of paperwork to file, or data to enter and I get a little too excited. I like puzzles and some days administration work can be a real life Sudoku puzzle and I find great satisfaction in getting it all right. I also like helping people and making them happy. So apart from being too dependent on the approval of others, I thrive on the fact that the completion of administration tasks assist others in making them happy and their workday a little easier.

Additionally, I am so excited to be temporarily taking on the role of group activities coordinator. I am so grateful to be given this opportunity. I love sharing my creative skills. I have been a wedding florist for the last 20 years and I can’t wait to share my creative talents with our clients in our weekly craft sessions and workshops.

What part of my role at DSS do I love the most?

I love being at the centre of the office, a touchpoint for everyone; employees, clients and stakeholders. Being on the front desk means I get to speak and/or meet everyone, I love that I get to be the unifying link across the whole business. Best of all I am enjoying getting to know all of our amazing clients.

What is my least favourite part of my role?

My least favourite part of my role is that sometimes (just on rare occasions) I don’t know everything, so please don’t yell at me if I am unaware that the whole team on the second floor snuck off to the pub for lunch on Friday afternoon.
